If you are interested in applying for Urban funding, please read through the following information.

Who can apply?

URBAN is no longer accepting applications for funding because the period of Programme activity is complete. We are sorry if you have a good idea but can't find money to support it. We know of many good projects struggling to find funding, including some that used to have URBAN funding, and we wish you the best of luck in finding funding.

What can be funded?

People who live in and projects that are based within the Urban 2 area. The main theme of the Urban 2 Programme is youth and Urban funded projects must therefore address the following criteria:

The overall objectives of Urban are:

• To break down barriers to employment and social inclusion
• To raise skill levels and increase access to job opportunities for young people
• To improve the local environment and facilities for young people
• To promote active involvement of young people in their communities
• To give young people the chance to influence and direct the Programme and its projects.

Are there any rules?

There are certain rules that apply to Urban funding:

Project proposals need to be realistic about the organisation's ability to sustain European funding, i.e. able to maintain detailed records, accounts and track beneficiaries and expenditure.

Urban II funding can be a maximum of 50% of the TPV (Total Project Value), although we encourage it to be around 45% of the TPV. Matchfunding needs to be identified and secured before Urban can give final approval to a project. Other sources of European funding cannot be used as Matchfunding - Urban II and any other ESF (European Structural Funds) activity need to be clearly separated so as to avoid double funding.

Urban II projects must not be in competition (or be seen to be in competition) with existing projects and schemes within the local area and should, where possible, complement activities that are already running.

Urban projects cannot pay for anything that is funded by a statutory organisation, i.e. education.

The target age group for Urban funding is residents of the Urban area aged between 10 and 30
